The project brief includes an open plan kitchen dining area, new entry, appropriate utility space for a family and connection to a large terrace for outdoor entertaining, which will also act as an introduction/correction to the remainder of the garden.
The existing building is typified by the clarity of the original public house building, which when viewed from the front is intact and well preserved. The north elevation is equally preserved even with the sympathetic small gable extension.
Contrasting the south and west (rear and side) elevations are typified by add on, while unsympathetic they do represent the previous use as something that was utilitarian and functional. A fact that is supported in the conservation statement with evidence the rear of the original building was continually remodelled to include additional buildings to support the use.
